System Administrator Jahia 8.2

How can my editors access the Site Settings in Jahia 8.2

Question

In Jahia versions prior to 8.2, editors could access the virtual site node and edit site settings directly in Page Composer. In Jahia 8.2, this node is no longer available in jContent. How can editors now manage site settings?

As stated in the Jahia 8.2.0 release notes, the site configuration (the virtual site node) is now managed via:
Administration ⇒ Sites ⇒ Site Properties

This new dedicated page brings more consistency to site management:
it is no longer possible to edit the site configuration using Right-click ⇒ Edit in the new Page Builder.

Answer

To allow an editor or contributor to access the Site Properties, you need to create a site role that grants the necessary permissions.

Step-by-step guide

Below are the steps to create this role and assign it to the right users or groups.
You need to do this using an account with server administrator privileges (for example, the root user).

Create the site role

  1.     Log in to the Server Administration and go to Roles and Permissions.

  2.     Click Create a new role, select Site role, and name it (e.g. Access to Site Settings).

  3.     Add the following permissions to the role and save the role.:
    •     •    Site administration access
    •     •    Site admin site properties

  4. Still in Server Administration, go to Sites and select your site and open the Site roles tab, then click Edit for the role you just created.

  5. Add the desired users or groups to this role, and save

 That’s it!

Your editors can now access the Site Properties via Administration ⇒ Sites ⇒ Site Properties for their site configuration tasks.
