You first create content and files in a staging version and then publish them to make them live and visible in the different websites or applications in which they are used.

You publish in jContent in the same way as you do in Page Composer. For more information about publishing, see Publishing content in Page Composer.

Publishing

You can publish content and files, pages, and folders.

Publishing content and files

You can publish content yourself if you have the appropriate permissions. You can also request publication to start a publication workflow.

To publish content:

  1. In jContent, click Content Folders or Media in the navigation pane.
  2. Navigate to the folder that contains the content or files that you want to publish.
  3. Open the context menu by either:
    • Hovering over the content or file and clicking the More options button.
    • Previewing the content or file by clicking Publish in the preview pane.
  4. In the context menu, click on Publish - current language or Publish in all languages.
  5. In the Publication dashboard page, verify the content you are about to publish.
  6. Depending on your role, you can either:
    • Publish the content yourself by clicking Publish.
    • Request publication by clicking Request publication to start a publication workflow. For information on completing the publication workflow, see Validating a publication request.

Note: You can also select several content items (or files when using the List view) and click the Publish button in the action bar to publish several content items or files at once.

Publishing a page

You can publish a page yourself if you have the appropriate permissions. You can also request publication to start a publication workflow.

To publish a page:

  1. In jContent, click Pages in the navigation pane.
  2. Navigate to the page you want to publish.
  3. In the header, click the Publish button to publish the page in the current language. Sub-pages will not be part of the publication.
    Alternatively, click on the drop down button next to the Publish button, and select Publish current page - current language 
    Note: Selecting Publish all under current page - current language or  Publish all under current page in all languages will include the subpages in the publication
  4. In the Publication dashboard page, verify the content you are about to publish
  5. Depending on your role, you can either:
    • Publish the folder yourself by clicking on Publish.
    • Request publication by clicking on Request publication to start a publication workflow. For more information on completing the publication workflow, see Validating a publication request.

Publishing a folder

You can publish a folder yourself if you have the appropriate permissions. You can also request publication to start a publication workflow.

To publish a folder:

  1. In jContent, click Content Folders or Media in the navigation pane.
  2. Navigate to the folder you want to publish.
  3. In the header, click the Publish button to publish the content of your folder in the current language. Alternatively, click on the drop down button next to the Publish button, and select Publish all under current folder - current language or  Publish all under current folder in all languages
    Note: You can also navigate to the folder that contains the folder that you want to publish. And then select one of these publication options in the context menu of the folder.
  4. In the Publication dashboard page, verify the content you are about to publish
  5. Depending on your role, you can either:
    • Publish the folder yourself by clicking on Publish.
    • Request publication by clicking on Request publication to start a publication workflow. For more information on completing the publication workflow, see Validating a publication request.

Unpublishing

This section shows how to  upublish content and files, and pages and folders.

Unpublishing content and files

You can unpublish content yourself if you have the appropriate permissions. You can also request publication to start a publication workflow.

To unpublish content or files:

  1. In jContent, click Content Folders or Media in the navigation pane.
  2. Navigate to the folder that contains the content or files that you want to unpublish.
  3. Open the context menu by either:
    • Hovering over the content or file and clicking the More options button.
    • Previewing the content or file by clicking Publish in the preview pane.
  4. In the context menu, click on Unpublish - current language or Unpublish in all languages.
  5. In the Publication dashboard page, verify the content you are about to unpublish.
  6. Depending on your role, you can either:
    • Publish the content yourself by clicking Unpublish.
    • Request publication by clicking Request unpublication to start a publication workflow. For information on completing the publication workflow, see Validating a publication request.

Note: You can also select several content items (or files when using the List view) and click the drop down next to the publish button in the action bar to unpublish several content items or files at once.

Unpublishing pages and folders

To unpublish folders, content and files:

  1. In jContent, click PagesContent Folders or Media in the navigation pane.
  2. Navigate to the folder you want to  unpublish.
  3. In the header, click the drop down button next to the Publish button, and select Unpublish current page/folder - current language or  Unpublish current page/folder in all languages
  4. Depending on your role, you can either:
    • Unpublish the content yourself by clicking Unpublish.
    • Request unpublication by clicking Request unpublication to start a workflow. For more information on completing the unpublication workflow, see Validating a publication request.
